International Women’s Day – ECOM celebrate Inclusion
Article by: Sam Taylor
Friday 8th March was International Women’s Day – an initiative that has been running for many years and is an opportunity to come together, discuss and celebrate achievements.
ECOM celebrated this year’s IWD with the theory of Inclusion.
To mark IWD this year, Group HR organised and held Forums across the globe on Friday, which invited women from all our entities together in regional calls through the day in different time zones. For each Forum, we invited a number of speakers who were women that work within ECOM in different roles and we heard interesting stories of their work and lives so far, their challenges and successes.
Over the 5 different regional Forums that took place in several languages, we had approximately 570/almost 600 participants who listened to the Presentation and then we invited everyone to ask questions, give opinions and asked for ideas on how we further support and develop women working at ECOM and inclusivity in general.
The participation was brilliant from all areas – all bringing different points and thoughts. We are pleased to say that the response and feedback from the Forum was very positive and enthusiastic. It was both fun and interesting to hear people give their views, opinions, share their experiences and inspire each other. It was a truly inspiring day/event for all participants!
Below are just some of the key learning points that came from the women on our calls:
- - Have a ‘can do’ attitude and a passion for learning
- - Be curious
- - Believe in yourself, you have many capabilities and more than you think
- - Do not be scared to make mistakes
- - Look at things from a different angle – bring a different perspective
Thank you to all that took part and we look forward to working with you in the future.
