Implementing BanQu - First steps
Article by: Kakay Halle
Following our announcement of ECOM’s selection of BanQu as a future-proof First Mile Technology, we are very excited to announce the first coffee and cocoa origins that will be implementing this new technology.
Based on their supply chain coverage and business impact, we are very happy to share that Vietnam and Nigeria will be the first origin countries within ECOM to roll out this leading technology solution. BanQu will be able to provide end-to-end auditable and verifiable traceability, gives us the ability to support customer and compliance requests more directly in the future, and is a key part of ECOM’s new EUDR readiness process and toolkit.
We thank them for the enthusiasm and engagement they are already showing for this project, and we can not wait to share more as we kick off implementation with their teams.

Quick note Q&A:
What is ‘First Mile’?
The term first mile refers to the first movements of the lifecycle of a product from farm and farmer through to the point of contracting. Digital transparency of this process with easily accessible and reliable data that links our extensive farmer level data with our physical supply chain will enable ECOM to better track and monitor our progress towards achieving sustainability goals.
What is BanQu?
BanQu is a supply chain technology platform that can capture our origin supply chains, farmer and ESG data, support direct and indirect chain of custody data and provide near real-time reporting and auditable records.

What Scope does BanQu have?
BanQu has a very large capability scope, but some key components include: farmer and farm 360 view, dynamic surveys, farmer messaging, polygons and geo-location capture, agronomy and crop 360 data, procurement with full chain of custody capture, EUDR and future compliance tracking, and local and global reports and training.
What Next?
Vietnam and Nigeria are just the start! After successful implementations, global roll-outs are expected to follow in origins where the tool makes sense.
